GistifyAI (“Extension”) values the privacy of its users and complies with applicable laws and Chrome Web Store policies.

Information Collected

The Extension does not intentionally collect personally identifiable information (PII).
When the user activates the summarization feature, it temporarily reads the visible text of the current webpage, which may contain public or personal information (e.g., name, email address) if such data is present on the page.

Purpose of Collection

The collected text is used solely to send to the OpenAI API for generating a summary as requested by the user.

Data Storage and Retention

The Extension does not store data in local storage or on developer servers.
Data is transmitted directly from the user’s browser to the OpenAI API over HTTPS and is discarded immediately after processing.
Data processed by the OpenAI API is subject to OpenAI’s retention policy (https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy).

Third-Party Sharing

The Extension does not sell or share user data with third parties, except for transmitting it to the OpenAI API solely for summarization purposes.

Permissions Usage

The Extension requests host permissions (https:///, http:///) to read webpage text only when the user activates the summarization feature. These permissions are not used for automatic data collection or tracking.

Data Security

All data transmissions are encrypted via HTTPS.

User Choices and Rights

No data is transmitted unless the user explicitly activates the summarization feature.
Removing the Extension will stop all data transmissions.

Children’s Privacy

This Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
